Reason #16 – I steal the food from my son’s plate
Jun 07Lest you think I’m the wicked stepmother, I must clarify: I did leave some food on his plate. I just ate the good bits.
Last Saturday there was a picnic of sorts at C’s swimming school. We were in charge of bringing disposable plates and glasses; the other kids’ parents brought jello, cookies, fruit, Froot Loops and ice cream.
While C tackled two small cubes of watermelon I ate his jello, the Froot Loops, a cookie and half a banana. I then offered him the rest of the banana while I polished off the ice cream.
What? He’s too young to have ice cream! It’s made of dairy! And don’t get me started on the Froot Loops, those delicious appalling little lumps of artificial colouring.
The jello doesn’t even bear mentioning, if C had eaten it he’d still be glowing in the dark. Those cookies were made with nasty refined wheat and sugar, ewwww. And that banana just looked evil. EVIL I tell you!
OK, I hadn’t had breakfast, so sue me.
Also, C really enjoyed his watermelon.

I think that this very incident is an example of why a lot of moms get chubby. I eat stuff off of my children’s plates so that they don’t waste it (even though I knew they wouldn’t eat it when I served it to them) and I don’t even realize it until later. I am so proud of the fact that I made a healthy, delicious dinner full of veggies without taking into account that they ate none of the stuff that was good for them and all of the stuff that was questionable. At least you didn’t eat all of their healthy foods…

I’m sure that he didn’t starve to death and all that refined sugar really is bad for babies…. and jello… geesh… you don’t even want to know what that’s actually made of!
You helped him out! So it was actually a good mom moment!
