Reason #105 – I use my son as scam bait
Reason #105 – I use my son as scam bait
Nov 01We are all well aware of the Nigerian Prince scam, the Australian Lottery scam and the Russian Bride scam. But have you ever heard of the Costa Rican Baby scam?
It goes like this:
Someone writes a blog about a poor, long-suffering child in the hands of an incompetent mom.
They add hundreds of devastatingly cute baby pictures.
Pictures like this one, for example:
The victim of the scam starts feeling sorry for this beauteous and angelic child who suffers deprivations and malnutrition because of his mother’s cruelty.
The scammer adds all sorts of sob stories: she’s an unemployed single mom, it is the gorgeous child’s first birthday, yadda yadda.
The scam victim finally gives in and starts sending gifts/money/plane tickets.
Woot! Crime pays!
Dear Blog Reader Who Spontaneously Sent A Birthday Present For My Blessed Child: thank you so much! I can’t wait to try the clothes on him! I’m not sure I will replace the batteries in Elmo once they run out, but I assure you C will love it nonetheless. Hugs! And remember: the Blessed Child smiles upon you! ;)

Awwww. Too great.

Ummm… I’d abandoned my own blog……but I don’t have a kid, so I wonder if this would work for attractive but very ravenously hungry cat. He already writes crap poetry. And needs money.

I guess you can always sell the toys and spend the proceeds at Ferragamo. Not that I ever even considered doing this… ;)

Let me know how this works out. Will it work if I used a pre-teen and a teen. I mean one is in military school, so somebody should feel for him right?
