Reason #157 – The Doo Dah Disaster
Reason #157 – The Doo Dah Disaster
May 09Pasadena is famously home to the Rose Bowl, the Rose Parade, and the Occasional Doo Dah Parade.
Whaddaya mean you’ve never heard of it?
Anyway, we went last weekend, and something terrible happened with C. Terrible. The kind of thing that would make me lose my parenting license in a snap.
Nope, it was not this, however tempting.
And it wasn’t this either, although I’m sure C would have enjoyed it.
Nope, it was about hotdogs.
Pasadena’s Hibachi Grill Team were shooting free hotdogs to the crowd with a bazooka – yeah, it was that kind of parade – and we were unable to catch one. Not one to be denied, C bid his time, got his hands on a coveted hotdog, and ate it before I could even notice what was going on.
Do you notice what was going on?
The boy got a piece of discarded hotdog from the flipping sidewalk after a motherfugging PARADE, and ate it.
He ate it.
He really really ate it, even though I tried to pry his mouth open and get it out before he swallowed. Damn, he’s quick! (And he bites hard!)
I am so gonna lose my parenting license. Phooey. Maybe I should have swapped him when I had a chance.
And where was my helpful stranger in our time of need, huh, huh?

HA! I’m with holl1x on this one! lol My son has eaten the dog food a few times when my back it turned. Slippery little suckers they are…

Recently after having Payton, I became completely germaphobic and overly aware of how horribly little I knew about parenting. I read every child raising book I could get my hands on.
I DISTINCTLY remember reading an article about children getting their mouths on dropped items, and the dangers of this. It advised that as long as the item wasn’t dropped into lingering water in the bathroom, WalMart mop bucket, outdoor puddle, it’s all good. Apparently, dry germs are A-OK as far as the parental germ police are concerned, so C? Eat away.

It’s a hotdog… I bet the dirt from the ground is less harmful than what it’s actually made of!
