Reason #188 – I let my son take a bullet for me

Reason #188 – I let my son take a bullet for me

Sep 02

Have you ever heard of the “fat bullet”?

It’s the whipped cream on your nonfat frapuccino, the avocado on your salad, the deliciously crispy skin on your lean grilled chicken.

The fat bullet is the yummy fattening part of an otherwise bland healthy food item.

And I let my kid take that bullet for me.

All. Of. The. Time.

Hey, C has his father’s annoyingly slim genes. And the Dane lives on beer and egg-and-bacon sandwiches and he’s as lean as a WeightWatchers microwave meal. Sometimes I hate his 6-packed guts.

Did you say “increased risk of cardiovascular disease”? I’m sorry, the connection is breaking up. Hello? Hello?

Mama needs to lose some weight, and that bacon needs eating.

What? Are you seriously going to tell me I am the only one who does this?

Damn.

my daughter was in the 0.3 percentile for her weight, and the doc told me to to change her diet to foods with more fat, calories, and nutrients, instead of just more food. unfortunately she does not stop eating when she is full either. I swear, one day she will eat until she really does explode.

Lucky girl! I hope she keeps her hyper-efficient metabolism for the rest of her life.

  2. I keep the good parts for myself and give my son the bland stuff. I’m not very good at sharing.

To be honest, I vary my approach depending on what I feel like eating. But he often gets the fatty bits.

  3. My godson wouldn’t eat, and the doctor SUGGESTED doing stuff like that. Well, maybe not the whipped cream.

But just think- there’s a qualified NP somewhere in Central California, begging the skin off her hands to get her kid to eat the fat bullet as we speak.

C would eat *me* if I stayed still for enough time. It would drive me up the walls if he were a fussy eater!

I do the opposite therefore I am far worse of a crap mom. I feed my son the gross vegetables. That way I look like I am sharing a healthy snack with the youngster meanwhile I indulge in the sodium calorie infested dressing :) and soda pop! What? I’m only concerned with my son’s diet far too much to bother with my own, right? >:)

I gave up on organic food because C is allergic to it. But vegetables with dressing? YUM!

They do say kids need to eat fat for brain development, so you’re just helping his grey matter. I can justify ice cream for breakfast too.

I make things for my family all of the time that I won’t eat. Not because I don’t want to eat them (I REALLY REALLY do) but because I am trying to reach a goal and that baguette bread with brie and fig jam is not going to help me. Or the homemade mac n’ cheese…*sigh* I live vicariously.

It sucks to live with two men who have lightning-fast metabolisms, especially because I get fat just by looking at chocolate. *sigh*

  9. Last May I began a diet with my husband and the very first day of the diet, I was at a baby shower. They were playing a game with M&Ms (my fave candy!!) and the goal was to keep all your candy, but I kept losing. The Boy ate so many M&Ms (I wasn’t the only one giving to him) that day, he had his own hard candy shell!! Those baby boys can pack in some calories and never gain an ounce!!!
