Reason #24 – I deprive my son of the most basic childhood joy
Jun 14I don’t think I’ve ever seen C as happy as he is right now. He is ecstatic. His eyes are open wide, he’s hardly blinking, spit dribbles down the hugest baby grin he could fit in his little face, and he is even – dare I say it? – clapping (no mean feat for a mere 8-month old.)
Is he trying ice cream for the first time? Visiting a circus? Holding a balloon? Is this the first time he’s been allowed out of his dungeon and into the sunlight?
My boy is, for the first time in his short life, watching the Disney Channel.
(Why do I sense that it won’t be the last?)
Better shoo him back in that dungeon quickly before he gets used to it.
“Halleluiah! I’ve seen the light, and its name is Yo Gabba Gabba!”

My daughter LOVES Mickey Mouse Club House and if she is in another room playing and hears it, she comes a running and dancing all at the same time!!! Good thing it is only on in the morning!!

My son is mad for Yo Gabba Gabba and one about a 3D-bear who does 3-step tasks. And to think I was depriving him of this! *guilt*

Special Agent OSO is a big hit in my house, too… I wouldn’t mind it so much if the theme song weren’t so freaking annoying. “OSO special?” Ugh. I get that they were trying to be witty, but if I ever fall to that level I would glue my mouth shut to spare myself the humiliation…

We used to watch Oso back in Costa Rica, and let me tell you, it’s just like Harry Potter books – MUCH better in translation.
The Spanish version was so much funnier!
Welcome to the dumb box…

My motives were never even that lofty. I just don’t watch a lot of TV myself, so I didn’t think of making/letting C watch any.
Poor thing, he kept shooting looks at me that said “mama, but WHY haven’t you showed this to me before??”
