Reason #50 – I tell my child I will exchange him for another
Jul 25This is not really funny in English, but it’s true and it will definitely come up in a few years when my son starts therapy.
Several times every day I pick C up and tell him I’m gonna exchange him…
- …for a baby who doesn’t stink.
- …for a lighter/smaller baby.
- …for a baby who doesn’t poo.
- …for a quieter baby.
- …for a nice-smelling baby.
- …for a baby who wiggles less.
Then I proceed to change his nappy.
It’s merely a matter of translation: in Spanish we don’t usually say “I have to change C’s diaper.” We say “Tengo que cambiar a C.”
Which literally means “I have to exchange C.”
So when he stinks to high heavens and I announce that “I’m going to exchange C” I simply cannot resist adding “for one with a clean ass.” Or any of the above.
A harmless joke?
I will let his therapist be the judge of that.
Incentive to start speaking spanish again!
