Reason #52 – My magic powers keep my baby safe from harm
Reason #52 – My magic powers keep my baby safe from harm
Jul 28If my boy is in imminent danger and I’m on Twitter doing something I just cannot drop, I don’t get up from my seat: I utter a magic spell and I keep tweeting, because C can come to no harm after I say the magic words.
These are a few of the many occasions in which I have cast my spell:
- C is trying to prop himself upright on a chair that won’t support him
- C is “petting” the cat in such a way that fur comes off
- C is juggling with something breakable
- C is hurtling at top speed towards the edge of the bed
- C is trying to dive inside the toilet
- C is playing with a stick-like object (straw, fly swatter, ice pick)
Not once has he come to harm so far. My magic words are more powerful than potential falls, angry animals, drowning scenarios and stabby weapons.
Whenever I see C in a dangerous situation, I don’t drop what I’m doing and run to his rescue. I just look at him and say “Careful, baby! Careful!”
That’s all it takes to keep him safe. Really.
And I don’t even have to leave my Twitter tag game Very Important Work Thing That Must Be Done Now.
How does having magic powers make me a bad mom?

I’m a Mommy magician too! I tell my kiddo to “be careful” so often, (while (texting) watching him like a hawk) that he tells himself to “be fefful” all the time. Mommy job accomplished!

Who is that with C?
(See how I did that? Never mind that C is about to go down the slide from hell and most likely fall backwards and smack the hell out of his curly head. I will look away and concentrate on the man at the top of the hill. Wont watch C at all. If I don’t watch he wont smack his curly head on the way down. Those are my magic powers. Don’t watch and it wont happen. I missed alot of really cool stuff along the way, but no one was injured!)

I’ve been trying the “look elsewherius” spell on him too, but it’s not as effective.
The strapping Viking throwing C down the ravine is my dear friend’s amazing boyfriend. Good looking AND angelic – just my type! those Danes have it going on.

Oh, if I had a dollar for every time I say “Careful Sweetie” during the day I would be a millionaire!

I am officially the living dead: it’s now about a week when I’ve gotten no more than 5 hours of sleep a night. I know it’s a luxury for some, but I need my sleep!!
Hope BlogFrog behaves!

I laughed so hard at this!
Apparently my spells work so good that my kids have been heard saying them to themselves when I’m not even paying attention.. err I mean bending down to tie my shoe quickly and definitely not while trying to eat an ice cream cone.

Thanks for leaving the last comment of the night!
Gosh, do you mean that when my boy can speak I won’t even have to say the magic words? So much to look forward to!

Oooo, we must be related. I have those magic powers too. :) Loving your blog dear. So busy right now I'm bad about commenting, but I'm stalking my little heart out. :)

I’ll take what I can get! ;)
Also: one more mom with magic powers and we can make our version of “Charmed”. Anyone?

Hey we must have the same spellbook. As they get older the spell changes, tho. You’re eventually gonna have to learn, “Hey, knock that shit off!” and “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”

Magic is a good thing. It has worked for moms for hundreds of years. You didn’t see our moms jumping up everytime we did something a little “unsafe”. They were comfortable with their powers!

Heh. My mom must have been a right priestess of the “careful careful” in my time, yet now she wants to bite my head off when i don’t do a dive to catch C. Funny how fast the Old Magic is forgotten

I am trying to make my comments pretty too – let me know how it works out and what plug-in you are using.
